UPNL employees start relay hunger strike

Protesting employees of UPNL went on a relay hunger strike on Friday after no representative from the Uttarakhand Government initiated any dialogue with the Uttarakhand Purva Sainik Nigam Limited Employees Union that is on the fifth day of the protest.

President of the union, Kushagra Joshi disclosed that  as many as15 employees of Doon University observed a hunger strike on the first day of the relay hunger strike. Joshi pointed out that since the State Government is ignoring their protest for the last five days, 5,000 protesting UPNL employees have sent postcards to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to make him aware of their issues. “Our demands are valid and justified. If the government will not respond to our protest, the protestors will further intensify their hunger strike till the government agrees to consider the demands,” said Joshi.
