Power demand touches record level in State

The rise in temperature in the State is directly affecting the demand of power and supply situation. On Monday, the demand for power jumped to 56.32 Million Units (MU), which is the maximum recorded till date since the creation of the State. In terms of megawatts, the maximum demand for electricity was recorded at 2,657 on Monday at 3:00 PM.

 The managing director of Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited (UPCL) Anil Kumar said that the corporation is committed to providing uninterrupted supply to the consumers of the State and it has succeeded in meeting this increase in demand. He appealed that the people should save electricity. 

Power saving measures  

1 Use electrical appliances like fan, tube-lights, fridge and AC judiciously. 

2. Ensure to keep the AC setting at 24-25 degrees only. 

3.Switch off the light/fan/AC/coolers of the rooms before leaving.

 4. Make minimal use of lights and fans in the premises/corridor/toilet and other places during the day when there is sufficient natural light.
