In latest news from Uttarakhand, grappling with the Yamunotri rush this year, the Uttarkashi district administration has passed an order which stipulates maximum 800 horses/mules to operate for the pilgrims from Janki Chatti to Yamunotri and vice versa from 4 am to 5 pm. In another step, the district administration has asked the Yamunotri devotees to complete darshan within an hour and return. In case the devotees do not return the horse/mule operators will return without them, the order says. The order further states that the horse/mule operation will be conducted from the prepaid counters and receipts will be given.
It is further stipulated that maximum 300 dandi-kandi will be allowed to go to Yamunotri from Janki Chatti in a day and that too from 4 am to 4 pm.
