Plains to remain dry & hot, rain and thunderstorms likely in mountains

Dehradun and other parts of the State experienced some relief from rising temperatures on Tuesday. The State meteorological centre has forecast that very light to light rain/thunderstorms are likely to occur at isolated places in Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Bageshwar, Pithoragarh and Almora districts on Wednesday. Dry weather is likely to prevail in the remaining districts. The meteorological centre has also issued a yellow warning (Watch) regarding the possibility of thunderstorms accompanied with lightning/gusty wind (30-40 kmph) likely to occur at isolated places in the aforementioned districts today.

The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness a mainly clear sky. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 39 degrees Celsius and 23 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today.

The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various parts of the State on Tuesday were 37.8 degrees Celsius and 22.5 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 36.8 degrees Celsius and 22.8 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 27 degrees Celsius and 14.2 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 27.6 degrees Celsius and 14.4 degrees Celsius in New Tehri. Light rain was reported in some places with 4.5 millimetres in Jakholi, 2.5 millimetres in Masi and 1.5 millimetres in Bhainsiyachhana.
