Offline registration for Char Dham Yatra suspended till May 31

In view of the increasing number of pilgrims, the State government has decided to suspend the offline registration for the Char Dham Yatra till May 31. The order was given by the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami during a meeting on Char Dham Yatra and drinking water and electricity supply during the ongoing summer on Monday. The CM said that the decision to suspend offline registrations has been taken in public interest from the point of view of security and convenience. He said that devotees should also be encouraged to visit other religious and historical places in Uttarakhand and instructed the Garhwal commissioner and inspector general of police to make a diversion plan for this. 

 On a firm note, the CM said special focus should be laid on crowd management in the Char Dham Yatra and it should be ensured that the devotees are sent in the Dhams as per the capacity determined.

 The CM said that the devotees who have entered the State without registration and want to visit other religious and tourist places other than Char Dhams should be sent there. A clear message should be given to such devotees that they will be sent for darshan in the Char Dhams as per the prescribed number and set standards. For this, advisory should also be issued to tour operators, he added.
The CM directed the officials to analyse shortcomings in the arrangements and management of the Char Dham Yatra in the last 10 days. He said that the reasons for these shortcomings should be identified. The CM said that the commendable works done during the Yatra should also be identified and directed the Additional Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan to prepare weekly report on the Yatra. 

On a stern note, the CM said the government and police officers who have been given the responsibility as nodal officers in Kedarnath and Yamunotri should remain in the field continuously and cooperate with the district magistrate concerned and the police in the arrangements. He also directed the officers to ensure availability of adequate doctors and medicines on the Yatra routes. He instructed all the departments related to Char Dham Yatra to remain on alert mode always.
The CM also reviewed drinking water availability in the State in the meeting. He  directed that adequate arrangements for drinking water should be done in view of the ongoing summer season. He said that overhead tanks should be built away from the natural water sources in the mountainous areas.  The CM said that adequate arrangements for drinking water should be made in the Char Dham Yatra. He directed that senior officials of departments related to drinking water should go to the field and see the drinking water arrangements. Adequate arrangements for water tankers and generators should be ensured in the State.
During the review of power supply, the CM  gave instructions to ensure adequate electricity supplies in the State .  He directed that all the three power corporations, UPCL, UJVNL and PITCUL should work in mutual coordination.
