Garhwal University to hold meeting regarding admissions

The HNB Garhwal Central University is planning to organise a meeting soon regarding the vacant seats in various colleges due to issues related to the Common University Entrance Test (CUET). The university vice-chancellor Annpurna Nautiyal informed that various colleges in the State still have a significant number of vacant seats for undergraduate admissions.

Many students were unaware of the CUET, resulting in disproportionately low admissions across multiple colleges. In view of this, the university is making arrangements for a meeting to address this issue and make decisions regarding enrollment in the colleges based on CUET results, she added.

DAV PG college principal KR Jain told this correspondent that the college currently has about 1,600 vacant seats. There has been a decrease in admissions to undergraduate courses this year. “In the past, student admissions in the college were based on merit. However, this year the University Grants Commission has made it mandatory for every student to clear the CUET in order to enroll in centralised universities successfully,” said Jain.
