USERC holds lecture on waste water treatment

The Uttarakhand Science Education and Research Centre (USERC) and Devbhoomi Vigyan Samiti jointly organised a deliberation on waste water treatment for maintaining the water quality of water resources. Presiding over the event, USERC director Anita Rawat said that last year on World Environment Day, USERC began water education lecture series monthly programme. The centre has worked to inform students of schools in remote areas of the state about conservation of water resources, studies, technical uses, management through public participation, research and other related aspects through this programme every month.

The programme coordinator Bhavtosh Sharma said that there is abundance of water sources in Uttarakhand. There is need for their conservation through research and public participation in elaborate efforts, he said.

Senior scientist of GB Pant National Institute of Himalayan Environment, Almora, Vasudha Agnihotri delivered a lecture on waste water treatment for maintaining the water quality of natural resources. She informed the gathering about various aspects including water chemistry, rules and laws regarding water management, waste water, domestic and industrial waste and other related aspects. She also spoke about biofilter and informed in detail about treatment of grey water at the domestic level.
