Ancient Lokpal Lakshman temple reopened to public

Friday, 24 MAY 2024 | PNS | JOSHIMATH

The ancient Lokpal Lakshman Mandir was ceremoniously reopened to the public in Chamoli district on Thursday.  Residents of the Pulna village offered special prayers and a Bhog to lord Lakshman in the temple on the occasion. Situated near the Lokpal glacial lake near which the Hemkund Sahib Gurudwara is located, the ancient Lokpal Lakshman temple has been attracting Hindu pilgrims for a long time. It is believed that lord Lakshman in the form of Sheshnag had undertaken penance here. In order to reach Lokpal, one has to travel from Rishikesh to Joshimath and from there to Govindghat by road. One then has to trek about 18 kilometres to reach Lokpal and Hemkund Sahib. The world famous Valley of Flowers is also located in this region.
