Govt responsible for improper arrangement during Char Dham Yatra: Congress

The vice president of Uttarakhand Congress Suryakant Dhasmana has alleged that the State government is accountable for the improper arrangements during the ongoing Char Dham Yatra and the forest fire incidents across the State. He said this in response to the former chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat who had opined that the actions of officials along with the dissolution of the Devasthanam board have led to inadequate arrangements for the Char Dham Yatra. Dhasmana refuted Rawat’s claim by emphasising the role of the elected government as the supreme authority in a democracy, with the executive being subordinate and responsible for carrying out its directives. He pointed out the presence of a Tourism and Culture minister overseeing a dedicated department, indicating that any deficiencies in the Char Dham Yatra arrangements should be addressed by the State government and the Tourism minister. He elaborated that it is the duty of the State government to coordinate arrangements for the Char Dham and pilgrimage trips, regardless of whether it is managed by the Devasthanam Board or Tourism department. If any irregularities are noted during the Char Dham Yatra, the former chief minister should promptly address these concerns directly with the State government. He also advised that the officials should seek a meeting with chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami to request enhancements in the current systems during the ongoing Char Dham Yatra.
