Several aspirants of PCS and other competitive exams have appealed to the State Government to postpone all recruitment examinations conducted by the Uttarakhand Public Service Commission (UkPSC) considering they might have been leaked too like the recently held Lekhpal-Patwari examination on January 8. According to them, the section officer of the Uttarakhand Public Service Commission (UKPSC) has leaked the paper in the Patwari recruitment examination and he himself has confessed to leaking question papers of several recruitment examinations in the past. If the commission goes ahead with recruitment examinations which are scheduled to be held this month, especially the main exam of PCS proposed to be held on January 28 to 31, many will remain suspicious of their results, said the aspirants. Many aspirants also met BJP leader Ravindra Jugran on Friday at Parade Ground with this concern. They said that the commission should postpone all recruitment examinations till the authorities conduct a thorough investigation to figure out all guilty parties involved in the paper leak case. According to them, frequent revelations of scams in recruitment exams have raised questions at the confidentiality, sanctity and orderliness of the commission which allegedly failed to recognise fraudsters in their own organisation. It is becoming difficult for aspirants to believe that further exams will be conducted with total fairness and transparency. Aspirants also accused UkSSSC of violating its own rules in conducting examinations. They said that rather than inviting candidates in 1:15 ratio for interviews as per the guidelines, the commission invites candidates in 1:70 ratio. They also said that the commission has given 30 per cent horizontal reservation to women of other states too along with Uttarakhand’s women in the preliminary examination of PCS but it has not been given in its main examination. It is absurd for many that there are two standards of reservation for one exam and the commission should clarify how it will actually work, said the PCS examination aspirants. Jugran said that aspirants have valid concerns and the State government as well as UKSSSC should take cognisance of these issues.
