The middle altitude areas in Joshimath area of Chamoli district received rain while the higher altitudes experienced snowfall on Monday. Snowfall was reported in higher peaks of Badrinath, Nanda Devi, Neelkanth, Satopanth and Hemkund Sahib along with other high altitude Himalayan regions. The rain experienced in Badrinath did not dampen the enthusiasm of the pilgrims who could be seen standing in long queues for their turn to worship the lord in the shrine. Joshimath also experienced rain with gusts of wind which resulted in a drop in the temperature.
