Badrinath to close for winters on November 19

The portals of Badrinath temple will be closed to the public for the winters on November 19. The date of closure of the temple was arrived at on the occasion of Vijaydhashami on Wednesday. The Rawal and Dharmadhikari among others consulted the Panchang (Hindu calendar) to finalise the date for closure of the Badrinath temple for the winter. The Dharmadhikari of the Badrinath, Bhuwan Chandra Uniyal informed that the Badrinath temple will be closed to the public this year on November 19 at 3:35 PM. It will be recalled that after a two year gap in the full fledged pilgrimage due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Badrinath temple was reopened for the pilgrims on May 8 this year. The pilgrimage has witnessed a major flow of visitors with more than 14 lakh people visiting this temple so far this year. The number of pilgrims visiting Badrinath this year is believed to be a record in itself. Meanwhile, the Defence minister Rajnath Singh also visited Badrinath temple on the occasion of Dussehra and paid his obeisance to the lord. The minister was in Uttarakhand to spend the festival with army men.
