The additional director general of police (Crime, Law and Order) AP Anshuman directed the officials to identify all black spots on Char Dham routes that are extremely vulnerable to accidents and install warning boards at such sites. Considering frequent landslides during monsoon on mountainous routes, the ADG also directed the officials to identify such vulnerable places ahead of the commencement of the Char Dham Yatra and make arrangements accordingly. He stated this in a meeting held with senior police officials of the State on Thursday for the safe completion of the Char Dham Yatra. He said that roads get blocked due to severe landslides during rain due to which devotees and travellers get stuck on the routes for many days. The officials concerned should identify such places in their respective areas if possible and make alternative arrangements to deal with such situations by coordinating with the departments concerned. Anshuman said that temporary parking arrangements should be made at all possible places if there is no extra space in the designated parking spaces. In case of severe traffic jams, vehicles should be diverted and parked at such places where there is safe and sufficient space. Besides this, all officials concerned must utilise the budget allocated for Chardham Yatra timely as per departmental rules, he added.
