Police to start process to attach properties if Bobby Kataria fails to appear in court

The Dehradun police will take action of attachment of properties of social media influencer Bobby Kataria if he fails to appear in the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) court next week. Kataria who was also wanted by Delhi police in a case of allegedly smoking a cigarette inside a plane surrendered there last week. Kataria who has lakhs of followers in social media platforms came into Dehradun police’s radar when one of his videos went viral in which he can be seen consuming alcohol by placing a table and chair in the middle of a public road by blocking traffic in Dehradun. The police issued a non-bailable warrant against him in August after he neglected three summons by police. A police team also went to his residence in Gurugram to arrest him after he failed to appear in the local court but failed to nab him. The police also announced a bounty of Rs 25,000 on the absconded Kataria on the order of Director General of Police (DGP) Ashok Kumar. The Dehradun superintendent of police (city) Sarita Dobhal said that the police had submitted a warrant B as per the legal process before the jail authorities of Delhi to bring him to Dehradun soon after they heard he surrendered. However, he has been granted bail in Delhi and he has appealed in court to appear on his own next week on October 11. The SP city said that the police will start the attachment proceedings of Kataria’s movable and immovable assets under Section 83 of Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) if he fails to appear before the court on the due date.
