Multitudes thronged the Naina Devi temple here to pay obeisance to goddesses Nanda and Sunanda as part of the 120th Nanda Devi Mahotsav on Tuesday. The event is being organized by Shri Ram Sevak Sabha and will conclude on Wednesday with a grand procession of the two goddesses in the city on Wednesday.
In addition to the various religious rituals and prayers held in the temple on Tuesday, artists presented folk dance and other items. Former ADM of Nainital, Harbir Singh also sang a devotional song on the occasion. Various other musical and cultural items were also presented by the devotees on the occasion.
While heavy rains disrupted the flow of devotees on Monday, the clear weather on Tuesday resulted in a large number of visitors to the shrine. Many of them shopped for various items at the stalls set on the DSA ground near the temple. Later in the evening, Deepdan was organized in the Naini lake.
