Administration uses force to stop Dharna of terminated employees of VS

Ruckus was created outside the Uttarakhand Vidhan Sabha on Wednesday when the administration forced the terminated employees of VS to stop their Dharna. The employees refused to vacate the spot and entered into a verbal altercation with the Police force. The agitators were later lifted by the Police and were taken to the official protest site in Ekta Vihar located on Sahastradhara road. The employees shouted slogans against the Speaker Ritu Khanduri while being taken away by the police. The terminated employees claimed that the condition of two protesting women deteriorated by the force used by the Police and one of them even became unconscious. The agitated employees said that they should be allowed to hold a protest outside the Vidhan Sabha and threatened that they would sit on a Dharna outside the Deendayal Upadhyaya (Coronation) hospital.

These employees were protesting against their removal from the Vidhan Sabha secretariat for the last two days. They are demanding that the employees appointed prior to the year 2016 should also be removed from VS secretariat. The protesters are accusing the Speaker Ritu Khanduri of adopting a selective approach in removing them. They point out that the  DK Kotia committee in its report has said that all the appointments in the VS from the year 2000 to 2022 were done in a similar manner so the Speaker should also remove the employees appointed prior to 2016. It is pertinent to mention all the ad hoc employees recruited prior to 2016 were regularised while the remaining 228 recruited in 2016, 2020 and 2021 were terminated by the Speaker Khanduri on the recommendation of the expert committee headed by D K Kotia.
