Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has said that new education policy is the need of the hour and the National Education Policy (NEP)- 2020 prepared under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi includes everything from human beings to humanity and from the past to the modern age. He said this while participating in a programme, ‘Nation building by the NEP-2020’ at SGT University in Gurugram in Haryana on Wednesday. He said that special focus is being given on the mother tongue and local languages in the NEP-2020 and it would help in the wholesome development of the country and would unite the countrymen. Dhami opined that the special provisions made in the NEP for making the youngsters self-reliant would prove to be the foundation stones for construction of Atmanirbhar Bharat. He said that the role of teachers is of paramount importance in the construction of an educated and cultured society and for the effective implementation of the NEP-2020 teachers should work with dedication. Dhami said that Uttarakhand is the first State in the country which has implemented the NEP- 2020 both in the schools and in the higher education sector.
The CM said that the SGT university is named after Guru Govind Singh Maharaj and it has proved worthy of the name by engaging in good works in the field of education. He said that on one hand Guru Govind Singh was a great warrior and on the other he was a great writer and philosopher who revived the spiritual conscience of the entire world. His life which is full of valour, dedication and sacrifice is a leading light for not only the Indians but also the entire world. Dhami said that Guru Govind Singh used to give special emphasis to the spread of education in the masses. He believed that education is the best tool for development of any nation and it can bring positive changes in the society, Dhami said.
The Member of Parliament (MP) Lallu Singh, the Chancellor of SGT University Ram Bahadur Rai, Vice Chancellor (VC) OP Kalra and others were present on the occasion.
