Cabinet approves plan for Auli Development Authority  

Service sector policy to encourage service sector in U’khand

The Uttarakhand government has set up the Auli Development Authority for developing Auli in Chamoli district as an international skiing destination. A proposal in this regard was approved by the State cabinet in its meeting held on Tuesday. Informing about the decisions of the cabinet, the chief secretary SS Sandhu said that six decisions were taken by the cabinet in its meeting.  

The development authority will implement the plan to develop the area into an international destination for skiing and tourism activities. It will also usher in the planned development of Auli.

In another important decision, the State cabinet also approved the proposal for Uttarakhand service sector policy-2023. The new policy will encourage the service sector in different areas. The CS said that it is expected that the service sector will contribute 40 per cent to the Gross Domestic Production (GDP) of the State by the year 2030.

He said that the State will attract an investment of Rs 60,000 crore in the service sector till 2030. It is expected that the sector will provide employment to 20 lakh people.

The cabinet approved the proposal to hand over the task of architectural service under the Kedarnath and Badrinath master plan to INI Design Studio Private Limited. The company will provide consultancy services for conceptual designing, detailed design DPR and post implementation for the idols and artefacts which will be installed in Badrinath and Kedarnath.

The cabinet also approved the draft policy for pump storage projects in the State. The policy aims for capacity usage of the different pump storage projects in the state, management of renewable energy resources, grid stabilisation and promotion of off stream areas. In another decision the cabinet decided to charge no VAT on the CNG gas supplied to the gas based power plant in Udham Singh Nagar district.
