Sr citizens can directly register at vaccination centres across Doon

Senior citizens can directly register for Covid-19 vaccination at any vaccination site across Dehradun district if they fail to register on the CoWIN portal. This was stated by the chief development officer (CDO) of Dehradun, Nitika Khandelwal, after she received several complaints of confusion regarding the portal.

The health department recently started registrations for Covid vaccination for senior citizens and those aged 45 years and above with comorbidities. However, many failed to register in the portal for several hours since Monday. Talking about this, the CDO stated that the Central Government launched the CoWIN portal on Monday but many locals have been complaining that the website is not working properly. “It is probably due to many thousands of users at the same time but many senior citizens still arrived on the vaccination site on Monday as well as Tuesday.

Since we did not want senior citizens to wait for hours at the vaccination sites, the district administration allowed their on the spot registration and immediate vaccination,” said Khandelwal. She asserted that even if the senior citizens fail to register in the CoWIN portal, they will be vaccinated at the vaccination sites after registration. She also stated that the district administration will soon connect the online CoWIN portal registration details with the Dehradun district administration’s portal with all the details of vaccination sites so that senior citizens can approach nearby sites for vaccination.
