The authorities on Sunday issued notices to 42 car washing service centres and disconnected the water connection of two establishments in Haldwani for using drinking water to wash vehicles against the order of Nainital district magistrate Vandana Singh. In view of the continuous shortage of drinking water due to the scorching heat, the DM banned the washing of vehicles at service centres on April 25 and allowed only dry washing. A joint team of Jal Sansthan and district administration conducted a massive raid on several car washing centres in Haldwani on Sunday under the supervision of Haldwani city magistrate AP Vajpayee. The authorities found that despite the order, 42 service centres in Nainital Road, Rampur Road, Uncha Bridge area and other areas of the city were misusing drinking water for washing vehicles. The officials immediately issued notices to these 42 centres. Apart from this, the authorities also disconnected the water connection of Verma Service Centre and Rawat Motors.  Vajpayee said that the administration is taking continuous action against those establishments that have been wasting water and misusing it against the rules as per the DM order. The administration has also been raising awareness among people about water management and appealing to them not to waste water. The team will continue to conduct such raids and will take legal action accordingly, he added.
