Alert issued- thunderstorms with gusty winds & hail likely in seven districts today

The State meteorological centre has issued an alert regarding the possibility of thunderstorms accompanied with gusty winds and hail in seven districts of the State on Monday. Dehradun is also likely to witness rain and thunderstorms though this is not expected to provide any major relief from the heat. The meteorological centre has issued an orange warning (Alert) regarding the possibility of thunderstorm accompanied with lightning/hail/gusty winds (30-40 kmph) likely to occur at isolated places in Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Dehradun, Chamoli, Tehri, Pauri and Haridwar districts today. The centre has also issued a yellow warning (Watch) regarding the possibility of thunderstorm accompanied with lightning/gusty winds (30-40 kmph) likely to occur at isolated places in Pithoragarh, Bageshwar, Almora, Champawat, Nainital and Udham Singh Nagar districts of the State today. Apart from this, light to moderate rain/thunderstorms are likely to occur at many places in Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Dehradun, Chamoli, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh while very light to light rain/thunderstorms are likely to occur at a few places in the remaining districts of the State on Monday.

The meteorological centre has forecast that the provisional State capital Dehradun is likely to witness a partly cloudy sky today with rain/thunderstorms accompanied with gusty winds (30-40 kmph) likely to occur in some areas. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 35 degrees Celsius and 21 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today.

The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various parts of the State on Sunday were 35.2 degrees Celsius and 17.7 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 37.4 degrees Celsius and 17.3 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 23.5 degrees Celsius and 10.5 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 24.4 degrees Celsius and 8.1 degrees Celsius respectively in New Tehri.
