The police have arrested six members of an interstate gang that reportedly kidnapped, bought and sold three children from Haridwar. The police have found one of the kidnapped children from Saharanpur, claimed the Haridwar senior superintendent of police Ajai Singh. The police started investigating the matter of missing children when a woman filed a complaint on May 29 that some unknown people kidnapped his six-month-old son who was sleeping in the Dargah premises of the Piran Kaliyer area.

Considering the sensitivity of the matter, the SSP formed a team under the supervision of the superintendent of police (rural) Swapna Kishore Singh. During the critical proceedings, it came to light that a couple named Ashfaq and Nazima along with another woman Sujata purportedly approached the complainant during her pregnancy to sell her unborn child but she refused. Singh said that the police started the investigation and finally nabbed the three suspects and bring them to the police station for questioning. He said that they confessed to kidnap and purchase three children in the district who they sold to different locations. They said that they reportedly sold one child in Uttar Pradesh’s Amroha during Holi in 2022 and another one in Saharanpur’s Chilkana via a middleman.

The police have successfully rescued the child from Chilkana. The police have arrested six people in the case including the middleman and a man who bought the child, said Singh. The accused have been identified as Ashfaq, Nazma, Sujata, Mohit, Anil Sharma and Adil Hussain. He said that the police are gathering information about the whereabouts of two kidnapped children as well. The police are yet to establish the connection of these accused with the child who was kidnapped from Dargah. Singh said that police are investigating the gang members to get crucial information about children.
