Violent altercation, shooting by alleged party workers takes place near Kaushik’s home

Two groups of Bharatiya Janata Party were allegedly involved in a violent altercation near the home of the previous BJP State president and Haridwar MLA Madan Kaushik. It is being stated that three bullets were also fired but nobody was shot, though the rival groups did indulge in violence using sticks and other means.

The incident took place on Saturday afternoon in Khannanagar Colony which falls under the jurisdiction of Jwalapur Kotwali. According to sources, local party leader Vishnu Arora, a supporter of former state president Madan Kaushik, along with about two dozen companions, purportedly reached the house of another BJP leader Deepak Tandon near Kaushik’s house. Arora and his supporters armed with sticks attacked Tandon’s house.These people created a lot of ruckus there for a considerable time and also fired about three rounds though nobody was reported to be hurt by the shooting. Kaushik’s house is a few steps away from the place where the firing took place. Jwalapur police reached the spot after getting information about the incident, but by then the group had fled from the scene.

Haridwar additional superintendent of police Rekha Yadav said that a matter of altercation and firing has come to the fore.  In the CCTV footage, some people were seen running with sticks.  The matter is being investigated on the basis of CCTV footage.
