Substandard, unsafe Paneer, condensed milk being sold in the market?

 The consumption of open Paneer being sold in the markets of the State could prove to be detrimental for health. The State food and drugs testing laboratory, Rudrapur has found seven samples of open Paneer unsafe to eat and below standard. Apart from Paneer, one sample of Papad and one sample of open Mawa (condensed milk) have been found below standard and not safe to consume. The Food Safety and Drug Administration (FDA) department had taken the sample of open Paneer from Fedrick, Radha enclave, Dehradun  on April 4, this year. Paneer samples were also collected from Ali Sher Qureshi, New Shuddh Dairy, Mothrowala Road in Dehradun, Murtza-Nehru Colony, Dehradun and vehicle of Subhash Chandra on April 29 this year. Paneer samples were also collected on May 1 this year from three different locations in Dehradun. The Rudrapur lab in its report has found all these samples unsafe to eat and below the prescribed standards. The team of the department had collected  a sample of Papad from a resort in Mohan, Salt Almora on September 1 last year and a sample of Mawa from Reetha Mandi in Dehradun on May 1 this year. These samples have also been found below standards and not safe by the laboratory of the department.

 The Drug Controller, FDA, Uttarakhand Tajber Jaggi told The Pioneer that the samples were collected by the department on the orders of the commissioner, FDA Radhika Jha. He said that the Commissioner has now directed the department to file suits in court against the traders and shopkeepers whose food samples have been found below standard or unsafe to consume.
