Heavy rain, disaster: CM directs DMs to remain in alert mode

In view of incessant rains in different parts of the state and damage caused by them to the life and property the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami visited the State emergency operation centre at the secretariat on Wednesday. Here he sought information about excessive rainfall in different parts of the State. The CM also directed the district administration to remain in an alert mode. He asked the DMs to keep coordination with organisations providing assistance in such times so that disaster relief and rescue works are done at a fast pace.

 Dhami held telephonic conversation with the district magistrates (DM) of Rudrapryag, Pauri, Nainital and Udham Singh Nagar and took an overview of the situation in their respective districts. He directed the DM to make necessary preparations in advance to help the people residing in disaster sensitive areas.

The CM asked the secretary disaster management to keep in constant touch with the DMs and provide required support to them.

 He said that the officers should ensure that the road, drinking water and electricity supply affected by heavy rains are restored as early as possible.

 The additional chief secretary Radha Raturi, secretary disaster management Ranjit Sinha, Garhwal Commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey, chief executive officer (CEO) of Uttarakhand State Disaster Management Authority (USDMA) Riddhim Agarwal and others were present on the occasion.
