The five-year tenure of all elected representatives of 84 municipal bodies in Uttarakhand ended on Friday. The government on Friday appointed respective district magistrates as the administrators in all districts. According to the officials of the Urban Development directorate, the tenure of 84 municipal bodies elected in the year 2018 ended on December 1. The officials said that the directorate had appealed to the State Election Commission to postpone the elections as the area under various municipal bodies was increased and the department concerned needed to make the new voter list accordingly. They said that since the elections of the municipal body in Roorkee were held late, the board will continue to function there as usual except mayor. Since Srinagar municipality will also become a municipal corporation, it will continue to function as usual without any administrator, added officials. They said that all administrators will take charge from Saturday in the municipal bodies concerned.
