NCC a nursery of brave soldiers of India: CM Dhami

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has said that the National Cadet Corps (NCC) is a nursery which produces brave soldiers for the country. He was addressing a group of NCC cadets who had participated in the Republic Day parade in New Delhi at his residence on Friday.

Dhami said that NCC is a mission and it is a matter of prestige for the youths who are associated with it. He said that the NCC cadets have discharged their duties with dedication wherever they were deployed during a disaster. Dhami said that both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defence minister Rajnath Singh were in NCC. He added that he himself was an NCC cadet in his college times.

The CM said that special attention is being given for extension and modernisation of the NCC under the leadership of PM Modi. As per the plan of the PM, one lakh new NCC cadets would be recruited and out of them one third would be women. The CM said that the government is planning to increase the sphere of NCC in the border areas. He said that it is a matter of great pride that the Manaskhand tableau of Uttarakhand got first prize in the Republic Day parade.

Exhorting the youth to develop leadership qualities, the CM said that India is being recognised as a young country in the world because youth is moving forward in every sector.

 Dhami said that India has been made the president of G20 which showcases the ability of the country on the global platform. He said that while the economy of the whole world remained in turmoil during the pandemic period, the Indian economy emerged as the fifth largest economy of the world.

Wife of the CM,  Geeta Dhami, additional director general of Uttarakhand NCC directorate Major General PS Dhaiya, contingent commander RDC-2033 Lieutenant Colonel Deependra Singh and others were present on the occasion.

The CM also honoured the NCC cadets who  participated in the Republic Day parade.
