More than 5,000 cases resolved in national Lok Adalat

More than 5,000 cases of Uttarakhand were resolved through mutual settlement in the national Lok Adalat held on Saturday. In the Uttarakhand high court, under the direction of the State Legal Services Authority’s (SLSA’s) executive chairman, justice Sanjay Kumar Mishra 55 out of 325 registered cases were resolved with the settlement amount totaling to Rs 3.49 crore bring facilitated for the parties concerned. 

The cases were taken up for hearing by the bench of justice Mishra, high court legal services committee chairman justice Sharad Kumar Sharma and justice RC Khulbe. The SLSA member secretary and district judge RK Khulbe informed that a record number of cases were resolved in the national Lok Adalat. He said that 61 cases were resolved in Almora with the settlement amount being Rs 90 lakh. Similarly, 74 cases were resolved with settlement amount of Rs 2.77 crore in Chamoli, 43 cases with settlement amount of Rs 2.31 crore in Champawat, 1,526 cases with settlement amount of Rs six crore in Dehradun, 1,535 cases with settlement amount of Rs 3.57 crore in Haridwar, 741 cases with settlement amount of Rs 4.15 crore in Nainital, 325 cases with settlement amount of Rs 65 lakh in Pauri, 95 cases with Rs 1.10 crore settlement amount in Pithoragarh, 80 cases with Rs 2.30 crore settlement amount in Rudraprayag, 240 cases with Rs 3.70 crore settlement amount in Tehri and 143 cases with Rs 1.13 crore settlement amount in Uttarkashi. Further, 81 cases were resolved in consumer courts with the settlement amount being Rs 94 lakh and three cases with Rs 13 lakh settlement amount were resolved in labour courts.
