The UPCL has claimed that 24 hour power supply is being ensured in the Char Dhams and Hemkund Sahib and that in the last five days almost nil power rostering was done in the shrines. The managing director of the UPCL, Anil Kumar said that chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and Power secretary have directed that power supplies in the Char Dham and the Hemkund Sahib should remain uninterrupted and their orders are being followed. He said that in view of heat wave like conditions the demand for power in the State has scaled to more than 59 million units (MU) per day.  The MD said that despite the adverse  conditions such as intense heat, increased demand, rainfall in the Char Dhams and inclement weather, the corporation is committed to supply continuous, 24×7 and quality power supply in the shrines.

On the orders of the UPCL MD the director (Operations) of the corporation is regularly monitoring the supply situation in the shrines and associated 33 x 11 KV sub stations, LT and HT lines and street lights.

The corporation has also deployed an additional number of employees on the Char Dham Yatra routes so that the supply is restored in case of any interruption.

In view of increased power demand, the MD has made an appeal to the officials to also adopt power saving measures. He said that the heads of all government and private offices should adopt power saving measures in the interests of the State and the country.
