The members of Roadways Karmchari Sanyukt Parishad have decided to defer their protest till the state gets its new Transport minister. The union members on Monday boycotted work on the main bus depots of Uttarakhand Transport Corporation (UTC) to seek action on regularisation of outsourced employees and their other demands. The secretary of the union, Dinesh Pant informed that the union started the protest as per their plan but the officials of the corporation called the union’s representatives for a meeting. He said that the officials of UTC informed that the recovery has been postponed under the Assured Career Promotion (ACP) scheme as per the order of the court and their dues will be paid soon to the retired personnel. The corporation has issued an order of dearness allowance for special technical personnel and will also conduct workshops for those who have been deployed in this post for over 10 years. The officials also ensured that the pending salary will be issued immediately besides examining the issue of pending dearness allowance. The management will also consider examining the arrear payments under the seventh pay scale, added Pant. He said that the officials have requested the union to defer their protest till the appointment of the new transport minister as many decisions will be taken only at the department level. “Considering this, the union has decided to defer the protest but if our demands are not be fulfilled, we will resume our state-wide protest,” said Pant.
