The State unit of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has accused the BJP government of the State of trying to shield the culprits in the Ankita Bhandari murder case. In a statement, the media in-charge of the party, Amit Joshi said that the statement of the cabinet minister Prem Chand Agarwal is highly objectionable in which he had claimed that there was no VIP involved in the case. He said that the statement of the minister can affect the ongoing investigation in the case.

Joshi said that it is very surprising that the leaders, MLAs and ministers of BJP are trying to shield the culprits while the investigation of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) is still going on in the case. He said that on one hand the police are planning to conduct narco test of the accused and on the other hand the BJP leaders are giving such statements. Joshi said that it appears as if the BJP leaders consider themselves bigger than the court. He said that the manner in which the BJP leaders are indulging in making statements shows that they are trying to save the culprits and in this way they are doing a great injustice to the people of the state. Joshi requested the police and the Uttarakhand High Court to take cognisance of the whole issue.
