Covid-19; Only 136 new cases reported on Sunday in U’khand

The number of new cases of novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) declined further in Uttarakhand on Sunday as the state health department reported only 136 new cases of the disease. The authorities also reported 206 recoveries and four deaths from the disease on the day.

The cumulative count of patients in the state has now increased to 3,38,644  while the death toll from the disease has climbed to  7035. A total of 3,22,681 patients have so far recovered from the disease in Uttarakhand. The recovery percentage from the disease is now at 95.29 and the sample positivity rate is at 6.40 percent in the state.

Four deaths from the disease were reported on Sunday. Two patients were reported dead at District Hospital Rudrapur, Udham Singh Nagar on Sunday while one patient each was reported dead at  All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rishikesh and Sanjeevni hospital Kashipur. The authorities also reported the death of five patients on Sunday which had occurred in the past but were not reported earlier.

Dehradun district reported 53, Uttarkashi 22, Tehri 14,Udham Singh Nagar 11, Rudraprayag ten, Haridwar nine, Champawat five, Pauri and Pithoragarh four each, Nainital three and Chamoli one new case of the disease on Sunday. No new cases of Covid-19 were reported from Almora and Bageshwar districts on the day.

The state now has 3,136 active patients of the disease. Dehradun district is at top of the table in the list of active cases with 478 cases while Pithoragarh is in second position with 456 active cases. Haridwar has 419, Bageshwar 268, Almora 237, Nainital 230, Pauri 183, Tehri 177, Rudraprayag 165, Champawat 159, Uttarkashi 128, Chamoli 124, and Udham Singh Nagar 112 active cases of the disease.  

 The state reported five new cases of Mucormycosis (Black fungus) on Sunday after which it now has 451 patients of the disease. Death of one patient from Black Fungus was also reported on the day. A total of 77 patients have so far died from this disease while 64 have recovered. 

In the ongoing vaccination drive against the contagion of Covid 19 a total of 15,288 people were vaccinated in 214 sessions in different parts of the state on Sunday. A total of 7,33,791 people have been fully vaccinated while 28,18,205  have received the first dose of the vaccine in the state so far.
