CM gives various assurances to senior citizens

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami was visited by a delegation from the Senior Citizens Welfare Society (SCWS) here on Saturday. The chief minister said that the suggestions and experiences of senior citizens will be taken into cognisance in the development of the State.  Dhami also said that the senior citizens should also play a role in facilitating the reach of various governmental public welfare schemes to the various sections of society. He further said that efforts will be made to provide space for an office building in Dehradun for the senior citizens to undertake social service. He also directed the Dehradun district magistrate Sonika to take further action regarding this.

Dhami said, “The senior citizens of the State are respected citizens for us. The State government is taking full care of the honour of and facilities for the aged citizens.  Various decisions have been taken by the State government so far considering the problems faced by the senior citizens,” claimed the chief minister.

Dhami further said that decisions will be taken soon regarding the suggestions given by SCWS members and to resolve the problems communicated by them. Steps will also be taken so that the society also benefits from their experience, said the chief minister.

Earlier, SCWS members requested the chief minister to provide adequate space to them in Dehradun for conducting social activities. They also requested that parent maintenance scheme be implemented in the state, arrangement be made to resolve problems of the senior citizens at the Tehsil level and that passes be issued to them for entry in the Vidhan Sabha and secretariat. The SCWS state head Atul Joshi, general secretary KK Oberai and other office bearers of the society were also among the delegation which called upon the chief minister.
