With the weather clearing after days of rain and snowfall, the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) is now busy clearing the roads leading to the Indo-Tibet border region in Chamoli district. The BRO is clearing snow off these high altitude motor roads to enable traffic movement towards and from the border region. Chunks of glaciers and snow blocking the Joshimath-Malari highway on various points have restricted traffic movement on this important highway leading to the border region. Machines and workers deployed by the BRO are busy clearing the snow to reopen this road to traffic.

With the traffic on this road being blocked, army vehicles transporting supplies and other items to the border posts are unable to reach their destination. With the weather clearing after days of considerable snowfall, the BRO has started working on clearing this important road. BRO commander Manish Kapil said that chunks of glaciers about 12 feet high have fallen on the road near Malari on the Joshimath-Malari road. The BRO has deployed four heavy machines and other equipment along with workers to cut the pieces of glaciers and clear the route for resumption of traffic.
