The Commission for Scheduled Castes in Uttarakhand has directed the Director General of Police (DGP) Ashok Kumar to submit a report over the alleged assault on a Badripur, Dehradun resident Vinod Kumar who belongs to scheduled caste category.
An RTI activist and advocate Vikesh Singh Negi informed that about two months back, Atul Sharma of the same locality entered forcefully in a property of the victim Kumar along with 8-10 other people and started hitting him and insulting him with casteist slurs. He said that Kumar has been living in the property for years but the accused is trying to take the property in his possession.
Negi said that Kumar had filed a complaint about the issue to the police but no appropriate action was taken by them. The victim has also alleged that the councillor Kamli Bhatt along with some anti-social elements were behind this incident. The advocate said that the complainant Vinod Kumar had to file a complaint to the SC Commission to get justice. He said that taking cognisance of the matter; the commission has directed the DGP to submit the report on the issue by November 29.
