The Food Safety department has collected 221 samples of edible items on Char Dham and Kanwad Yatra routes in the last four months. Teams of the department undertook a drive in which raids were conducted at the restaurants, hotels and other places.
The department found four samples of Paneer in Udham Singh Nagar and two in Haridwar as unsafe to eat. In Haridwar, the Paneer was found to be transported from Saharanpur district of Uttar Pradesh. The teams of the department collected samples of milk and its products, edible oil, cold drinks, spices and pulses during the drive.
These samples were sent by the department to the food testing lab of Rudrapur. The commissioner food safety and drugs administration R Rajesh Kumar said that strict action would be initiated against those involved in adulteration in food products.
