Continuing Medical Education programme on hepatitis & HIV held in Doon

The department of microbiology and immunology, Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital and Shri Guru Ram Rai Institute of Medical and Health Sciences organised a one-day Continuing Medical Education (CME) programme on the topic, ‘Challenges in Viral Markers and Diagnosis’ on Saturday. The organisers claimed that over 150 subject experts participated in this district level CME programme on ‘Viral Markers’. They also claimed that clinical symptoms, investigations, management and related challenges in the context of Hepatitis B, C and HIV were highlighted. The experts stressed that appropriate viral marker tests can help in timely diagnosis and management of HIV and Hepatitis cases.

Senior Microbiologist, Max Hospital, Saket, New Delhi, Dr Bansidhar Tarai explained in detail the diagnostic strategies on HIV. He also explained the present modalities and modern/upcoming modalities in a comparative manner. He said that apart from the traditional testing methods for HIV diagnosis, there are some other diagnostic tests like Viral Load, P-24 antigen testing in which HIV positivity can be detected easily and at the earliest.

A panel discussion was also held in which senior faculty members of Shri Guru Ram Rai Institute of Medical and Health Sciences participated. The panellists explained the tests and the treatment of Hepatitis and HIV. Plus, they answered the queries the participants asked.
