Students union election-Aryan group wins in DAV PG College, ABVP dominates MKP

The students union election in the colleges and universities of the State ended on Tuesday. Voting in the DAV PG college which is considered to be the biggest college of the State started in the morning.

The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) which had maintained its dominance in this college for the last 14 years, lost to the Aryan group. Siddharth Aggarwal of the Aryan group was elected to the post of the students union president in DAV PG College. In a triangular contest, he secured 1,313 votes to defeat his nearest rival Yashwant Singh of ABVP by a margin of 182 votes. It will be recalled that the ABVP was on a winning streak in this college since 2007.

In MKP PG college, Shalini Bisht of ABVP was declared elected to the position of president of the students union while Ritika Nautiyal and Tanuja- both from ABVP, were declared elected to the posts of vice president and general secretary respectively.
