Bansal elected unopposed to RS

With the Congress not fielding any candidate for the Rajya Sabha seat from Uttarakhand, the Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Naresh Bansal was elected unopposed to the Rajya Sabha.

He was presented with the election certificate here at the Vidhan Sabha on Monday. Speaking after receiving the certificate, Bansal paid tributes to statehood activists. He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat are working to take the nation and State forward. “My priority will be to work for achieving the dreams of the statehood activists. I will strive to facilitate all that is needed in the state including development and infrastructure,” he said.

Chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat, cabinet ministers Subodh Uniyal, Arvind Pandey, BJP State president Banshidhar Bhagat, MP Mala Rajya Laxmi Shah, various public representatives and party office bearers were also present on the occasion. Later, the party workers took out a procession from the Vidhan Sabha to the party’s state office where he received an enthusiastic welcome.

After his welcome at the party office, Bansal along with Bhagat went to the Deendayal Upadhyay park where he garlanded the statue of Deendayal Upadhyay before garlanding the statues of  Sardar Patel, BR Ambedkar and Indramani Badoni.
