U’khand to give Hindi medium option to MBBS students

Uttarakhand is set to become the second State in the country after Madhya Pradesh where the students will have the option to undertake medical studies in the Hindi medium. As of now the MBBS course can be pursued only in English medium in the State. The medical students will have the option of Hindi medium from the academic session 2023-2024 which will commence soon.

 The Health minister Dhan Singh Rawat met the Union Health minister Mansukh Mandaviya in New Delhi on Thursday and requested him to visit the State to formally inaugurate the option of Hindi medium in medical studies in the State. He also requested Mandaviya to attend the Bhoomi Pujan ceremony of the satellite centre of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rishikesh at Udham Singh Nagar. The Union minister accepted Rawat’s invitation and said that he will soon visit Uttarakhand to attend both the programmes.

 Rawat said that the medical education department has made all the preparations for starting the MBBS course in Hindi in the State. He said that the department constituted a committee of experts to prepare the syllabus of the MBBS course in the Hindi medium.  This committee studied the syllabus of MP to prepare the syllabus and handed it over to the HNB Medical Education University. Rawat claimed that the university has also made necessary preparations for providing the option of Hindi medium to MBBS students. The minister said that the initiative will be a gift for the students who have come from Hindi medium schools.
