Will continue to fight for the unemployed youngsters: Mahara

In protest against use of police force on the students and unemployed, the Uttarakhand Congress held a protest at its party office on Tuesday. The Congress leaders also tried to take out a protest march towards the State secretariat on the day and courted arrest for the sixth consecutive day.

 Addressing the party workers, the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Karan Mahara said that the brutal force used by the State government on the agitating students is highly deplorable. He said that the State government has adopted a dictatorial attitude and it is determined to crush the voice of the unemployed by use of force. Mahara assured that the Congress party is standing with the unemployed in this battle. He said that in all the recruitment scams unearthed so far, a clear involvement of the people associated with the ruling party is there. He alleged that the recruitment mafia is being patronised by the State government.

 The leader of opposition (LoP) in State assembly Yashpal Arya said that the Modi government has pushed the country to the brink in the last eight years due to which unemployment is at its peak. The BJP government has pushed Uttarakhand back by many years and there is a major resentment in the youngsters of mountainous areas against the government apathy.

 Former chief minister Harish Rawat said that protests of the party against the increasing prices, unemployment and misgovernance of BJP would unleash a new energy in the workers of the Congress party. He said that unemployment has broken all the past records in the State and centre. Former PCC president Pritam Singh said that the series of scams and paper leaks has made the youngsters angry and they are feeling cheated by the system. Former PCC president Ganesh Godiyal said the integrity of the recruitment examination of Patwari held on February 12 is also under doubt. Media chairman of the Uttarakhand Congress Rajiv Mehrishi said that the Congress party would continue to fight for the repressive policies of the State government. Large number of party leaders and workers took part in the protest.
