Patwari aspirants claim incongruity in OMR sheet copy

It appears as if the Uttarakhand Public Service Commission (UKPSC) has not learnt any lessons from the paper leak case and the recruitment scam which has rocked it recently. In the examination of the Patwari-Lekhpal recruitment held by the UKPSC on February 12, some candidates have pointed some procedural and other flaws. In one such example, a candidate informed that the commission provides a copy of the OMR sheet to the candidates which they can carry back with them. The copy of the sheet provided to this candidate shows a clear displacement of the answers (dots) marked by him on correct option out of the four choices. Apparently this displacement has occurred due to nonalignment of the sheets. This candidate told The Pioneer that the displaced impressions in his copy of the OMR sheet has made it difficult to decipher which option he has marked as correct. “Due to the lack of proper alignment of the OMR sheets, the copy which I have shows the mark (.) in between the two options. Now I am not in a position to cross check the marks which would be awarded to me with the key which the commission would release,’’ he said.

It is pertinent to mention here that OMR sheet is provided in three copies to the candidates and as a measure of transparency one of the sheets (a copy with impressions marked on the original sheet) is given to the candidate. One candidate who gave this examination said that this problem was faced by many candidates and their copy of the OMR sheets is very confusing. He said that this wrong alignment of the sheets could be a normal human error but it also raises apprehension in the minds of the candidates who are upset by series of scams and paper leak cases. The commission should have been more cautious, he added.
