Enforce laws protecting child rights effectively- Dhami

The chief minister of Uttarakhand Pushkar Singh Dhami has stressed the need for increasing creativity in the children. He also advocated increasing awareness for the child rights and suggested that camps should be organised to the purpose. He was addressing a one day workshop organised by State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (SCPCR) on the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act here on Wednesday. He said that the role of parents and teachers is paramount for a golden future for children. The CM suggested that such workshops should be more regular and said the government is making all possible efforts for improvement in the living standards of everyone. He added that the society should come forward and provide help to the children who are devoid of good education and proper upbringing. Dhami said that the future of children would move forward in a positive direction when they get an environment which is free from fear. He said that the state government has started many schemes for child welfare and added that the laws meant for protecting child rights should be enforced strictly. Dhami said that the programmes like this would increase the awareness and the deliberations of experts would help in increasing creativity among the children. He said that his government is working on the motto of simplification, solution and disposal.

The CM also released a book on the POCSO act and felicitated the Covid-19 warriors on the occasion.

The minister for women and child development Rekha Arya said that the state government is standing firmly with the children. She said that under the Vatsallya Yojana, the government is providing help to children who lost their parents during the Covid-19 period. Arya added that Vatsalya Yojana is one of the most popular and appreciated schemes of the country.

The director general of police Ashok Kumar gave a detailed account of POCSO Act. The chairperson of SCPCR, Dr Geeta Khanna expressed her gratitude for those who participated in the workshop. The representatives of various social organisations, police, administration and legal departments took part in the programme.
