Tourists to enjoy the view of Nainital from the ropeway- Maharaj

On the occasion of the launch of the painting competition organized by Lalit Kala Academy, the State Tourism Minister Satpal Maharaj reached Nainital on Saturday.  He made announcements for multiple schemes launched by the Government on the occasion . He also added that the ropeway from Ranibagh to Nainital has been approved and its tender will be released soon.

For the past few years, Nainital has been suffering from the problem of traffic jams, and with tourism as its main business, the Lake District has suffered loss in past years. In view of the traffics snarls tourists started evading Nainital. Now the ongoing workbon the ropeway project, has finally been completed. The locals point out that the administration and the police of Nainital, which used to be stressed at the time of tourist season, will be at ease because of the traffic problems which will be solved to some extent. The journey from Ranibagh will be completed in 16 minutes which had to be covered in about one and a half hours, with the distance reduced to12.6 kms from 32 kms. Furthermore, the tourist will be able to enjoy the view of Nainital through cable cars. Satpal Maharaj added that Ranibagh Nainital ropeway has been approved, tender would be released soon. He added  that ropeways will also set in place in Mussoorie, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri. 

District Tourism Officer Arvind Gaur said that after the GeoTechnical Survey – IIT Roorkee Consultant CBRE South Africa, the cable car will reach Nainital via Ranibagh, Dolmar, Jeolikot and Hanumangarh stations. Moreover the people will also get the benefit of employment and they will save a lot of money.
