STF arrests absconding robber after 20-years

The Uttarakhand Special Task Force (STF) arrested an accused Parvez (50) who had been reported absconding for the past 20 years after committing robbery in a house with his gang in Roorkee, Haridwar in the year 2002. He was leading a married life in Lucknow with a fake identity. The senior superintendent of police (SSP) of STF, Ayush Agrawal said that a gang of six robbers robbed a house in Roorkee on August 10, 2002 holding the family hostage. The Haridwar police had arrested the five robbers- Rashid Pahalwan , Jameel, Nadeem alias Sanjay, Amir and Tanvir but could not nab their sixth accomplice, Parvez. The police had also announced a bounty of Rs 25,000 on Parvez’s head. Several cases of murder, robbery and assault are also allegedly registered against the accused in Moradabad police station, said Agrawal. He said that Parvez had committed many murders to avenge his father’s death who was also murdered. The SSP said that the STF received information on Wednesday that Parvez had changed his name to Asif, got married in Lucknow and has been living there for a long time. Agrawal said that the STF went to Lucknow and arrested him on Wednesday.
