Schools to reopen sans students from July 12

Teachers asked to attend schools, Edu minister reviews progress of Atal Utkrisht Vidyalayas

After a long break enforced by the pandemic of Covid-19 thousands of the government schools of the state would open from July 12. However only the teachers would come to the schools as the students would continue to remain at home. On the directive of the education minister Arvind Pandey the education secretary R Meenkashi Sundaram issued the order for the teachers to start coming to the schools from July 12. After taking over the charge of the education department Pandey took a meeting of the senior officers on Wednesday and asked them to ensure that the teachers are visiting the schools. The teachers would take online classes of the students from their respective schools.

In the meeting the minister also took a review of the progress of the Atal Utkrisht Vidyalayas. The government is planning to start two AUV in every block of the state from this session. The minister said that most of these schools have got the necessary affiliation from the central board of secondary education (CBSE). Pandey said that soon the second phase of this project would start under which those secondary schools which fulfil the norms of CBSE would be selected. These schools would be English medium and the department has started a process to recruit eligible teachers from among its teachers for AUV. In a bid to attract best talent the department has said that the teachers posted in the AUY located in the Ati Durgam (Inaccessible) areas would be given additional benefit. Under it their tenure of posting in such schools would be counted double for the purpose of transfers. The minister said that the state government is planning to develop the AUV on the lines of Kendriya Vidyalayas (KV) and the Principals of these schools would be given freedom to recruit contractual faculty members.
