Health dept to intensify vaccination of children 

There are an estimated 3.92 lakh children in 12 to 14 years age bracket in the state who would be vaccinated with the Corbevax

The state health department of Uttarakhand would soon intensify its drive to vaccinate the entire 12 to 14 years of age population against Covid-19. There are an estimated 3.92 lakh children in the state who are in the above mentioned age bracket. Apart from making arrangements for vaccination in some schools and major hospitals, the department would make arrangements for vaccination of 12-14 years old children in the vaccination centres. The vaccination of the 12 to 14 year age children started in Uttarakhand on Wednesday. On the first day a total of 4705 children were vaccinated with the Corbevax vaccine in different parts of the state. As per the data of the department maximum 1374 children were administered in the Udham Singh Nagar district while 872 and 755 children were jabbed in Haridwar and Dehradun districts respectively. In Pithoragarh district only 12 children were vaccinated on the first day.
The state immunisation officer Dr K S Martolia told The Pioneer that the second dose of the Corbevax would be administered after 28 days. He appealed that the parents must bring their children for vaccination. Dr Martolia said that 75 per cent children between 15 to 17 years of age have been administered with the first dose while the second dose has been administered to 56 per cent children.
