The president of Uttarakhand Berozgar Sangh Bobby Panwar and six others who were arrested by the police on February 9 for stone pelting failed to secure bail once again on Tuesday. The police also appealed in the court of chief judicial magistrate to cancel the bail of six accused which was granted earlier by the court. The court will hear on the bail applications of Panwar and other accused on Wednesday. The officials informed that the prosecution on Tuesday presented medical records of some officials injured during stone pelting along with some photographs and cuttings of daily newspapers as evidence against all arrested accused. The prosecution could not present medical reports of three police personnel who were hospitalised due to injuries and sought some time from the judge to produce them before the court. However, the counsel of the arrested youth accused the prosecution of intentionally trying to delay the bail proceedings to prolong their stay in jail. The prosecution on behalf of the police also sought remand of arrested men under Section 307 of Indian Penal Code on the basis of evidence submitted in court. The officials informed that the prosecution also appealed to the court to cancel the bail of six accused who were recently granted bail. The court would give its decision on the bail pleas, remand of arrested accused to police and cancellation of bails granted earlier on Wednesday. The court directed both parties to ensure submission of all necessary documents, certificates and objections on Wednesday, except in unavoidable circumstances, regarding the bail hearing or else, the bail application will be disposed of on the basis of the available evidence, said the officials.
