High Court judge to monitor recruitment scam probes

Bowing to the demand of the unemployed who are on the path of agitation on the incidences of paper leaks in the recruitment examinations, the Uttarakhand government has decided that the probes going on the Uttarakhand Subordinate Service Selection Commission (UKSSC) and the Uttarakhand Public Service Commission (UKPSC) paper leak cases would be monitored by a judge of the Uttarakhand High Court. The UKSSC scam is being investigated by the Special Task Force (STF) while the UKPSC paper leak case is under the investigation of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by the Haridwar senior superintendent of police (SSP) Ajai Singh. Informing about the decision of the government, the additional chief secretary (ACS) Radha Raturi told media persons here on Tuesday that the government would request the Uttarakhand HC to appoint a judge to monitor both the probes. She said with the promulgation of The Uttarakhand Competitive Examination (measures for control of prevention of unfair means in recruitment) ordinance-2023 the government has fulfilled the biggest demand of the unemployed. She added that the government has also removed the examination controller of the UKPSC. Raturi said that the anti-copying law implemented by the State is the most stringent law of the country and its objective is to protect the interests of the students. She said that the Lekhpal – Patwari examination was successfully conducted at 498 examination centres in all 13 districts on Sunday and 1.03 lakh candidates appeared in it. The facility of free travel was provided by the State government to all the candidates of this examination.  

Secretary Shailesh Bagauli, additional director general of police V Murugesan and others were also present on the occasion.
