Highest single day recovery- 8,731 & least number of new cases in the month of May reported on Friday

The Covid 19 curfew imposed in the state is acting as a deterrent on the spread of pandemic in Uttarakhand. The state health department reported 3,626 cases of the disease on Friday which is the lowest single day count in the month of May. To add to the good news the authorities also reported highest single day recoveries (8731) on the day. The tally of the disease in the state has now climbed to 3,07,566. The department also reported the death of 70 patients in different parts of the state on the day. The cumulative death count in the state is now at 5,600. The department also added 46 such deaths in the tally on Friday which had occurred in the past but not reported earlier. Interestingly 43 such deaths had occurred in Haridwar district only.

The recovery percent now stands at 75.84 and the sample positivity rate is 6.92 percent.

Out of the 70 deaths reported on Friday, nine each occurred at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rishikesh and Himalayan hospital Dehradun, eight at Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) hospital Dehradun, seven at HNB Base hospital Srinagar and six at Sushila Tiwari government hospital Haldwani.  Similarly four deaths each occurred at Kailash hospital Dehradun and Military hospital Dehradun and three at Base hospital Kotdwar on the day. The provisional state capital Dehradun reported 699 new cases of the disease on Friday. Nainital reported 555, Haridwar 535, Udham Singh Nagar 383, Chamoli 238, Bageshwar 215, Rudraprayag 193, Almora 187, Pithoragarh 178, Pauri 177, Tehri 129, Uttarkashi 89 and Champawat 48 new cases of the disease on Friday.The state now has 63,373 active patients of the disease. Dehradun continues to remains at the top of the table of active cases of the disease with 17,787 patients; Haridwar has 10,371, Udham Singh Nagar 6,320,  Pauri 5471, Nainital 5,034, Tehri 4,618, Chamoli 2441, Rudraprayag 2437,  Almora 2402, Uttarkashi 2,091, Bageshwar 1,793, Pithoragarh 1,669 and Champawat 939 active cases of the disease.  To contain the contagion of Covid-19, the state administration has set up 531 containment zones in different parts of the state. In the ongoing vaccination drive only 14,860 people were vaccinated in 231 sessions in different parts of the state on Friday. A total of 6,80831 people have been fully vaccinated while 20,77,722 have received the first dose of the vaccine.
